What you'd actually do

  • They are responsible for coordinating A.A. meetings in correctional facilities within the district and supporting  their needs to include:
  • Communications with district and area using designated email: dist10correction@area72aa.org
  • The Corrections Chairperson serves as the primary contact person for Mission Creek Women’s  Correctional Center. The Department of Corrections requires A.A. personnel admitted to the facility to  follow all state guidelines and undergo background investigations prior to admission to Mission Creek.  The Corrections Chair is responsible for providing the needed information and process for all new AA  volunteers to complete background investigations and to ensure all currently cleared volunteers  receive communications from the Mission Creek Volunteer Coordinator. A single point of contact  ensures accurate information is disseminated and does not burden the Volunteer Coordinator with the  responsibility of contacting multiple A.A. Volunteers.
  • Providing A.A. conference-approved literature, to include Grapevine and La Vina magazines, to inmates  per instructions from the facility.
  • Ensuring all corrections and ancillary corrections facilities have current district meeting schedules. Such  facilities would include the Bainbridge Island Sheriff's Office, Bremerton Municipal Court, Mason  County Jail, and the various probation offices throughout the district.
  • Collecting literature donations from the groups and distributing them to the facilities as needed.
  • Making sure the Corrections Bridge and Correspondence Programs are available.
  • Visiting the facilities that are served and participating in relevant meetings when possible.
  • This position has a budgeted Line-Item for reimbursement of expenses accrued. See the  Trusted Servant Reimbursement Policy (Appendix C) for reimbursement clarifications.
